Rain good news for nature

The plentiful rainfall may be frustrating for those who wish to enjoy the summer – but it’s proving to be very good news for the landscape after several years of summer droughts.

Over the last few years, the water table has been falling and the soil dried up. But now it's back to normal.

A hydrologist at the Federal Environment Office, David Volken, says that even in some areas there’s too much water.

The rain is also good news for the glaciers – snow has been falling on the higher ground which will build them up. 
And it’s not over – more storms are predicted for next week.
