A surprise inspection of electric scooters in Geneva led to several machines being impounded.
The scooters are not allowed to exceed 20 kph and any sold in the country should be limited to that speed.
Some were found to be able to go faster than 30 when the police placed them on a measuring machine.
Those were taken away. Other riders were ticketed – some for using a phone while riding others for having two people on one scooter.
The checks will continue throughout the summer.
The City says surveys have shown that 80% of Geneva residents have been inconvenienced by scooter riders.
