A 25-year-old man has died after being shot on a café terrace in Annemasse's Perrier district late on Sunday night
The victim was sitting with friends on Place du Jumelage when a hooded gunman opened fire from a car around 10.45 pm, before speeding off.
Rushed to hospital in critical condition, he later died from his wounds.
The Thonon prosecutor's office has opened a murder investigation, handed to Annecy's organised-crime division; officials have not yet confirmed whether the victim was the intended target or hit by a stray round.
Annemasse and neighbouring Gaillard have seen a rise in drug-linked violence in recent months — the case now shadows a district many Geneva-side commuters travel through daily.
