A new survey suggests most people are now in favour of a single fund for health insurance and a significant proportion also say premiums should reflect income.
It’s expected the Federal Health Office will give the go ahead for premiums to rise 10% next year.
The survey by DemoSCOPE and the online portal Watson shows people have changed their minds since the last vote on the matter in 2014, when 62% rejected the idea. Now nearly 80% back it.
The support also seems to be widespread with many agreeing across the political spectrum.
The Socialist Party is already working on a popular initiative to give voters a say.
