Stupid airport rule traps man

A man found himself in an absurd situation at Geneva Airport. He was forced to buy a plane ticket he had no intention of using, just so he could leave.

The man was returning a rental car which he had picked up in the south of France. He decided to use the Europcar office on the French side of the airport.

But once he’d left the car – he found there was no way to leave the airport without a car. That is unless he entered the airside area and exited into Switzerland.

The only way to do that was to buy a plane ticket.

He found one online for 30 euro and used the boarding pass to escape. It was cheaper than the other option, to get a taxi.

The airport confirmed security regulations insist people can’t leave the French sector on foot.
