Employees at Swiss mattress makers Superba and Swissflex may finally see relief after months without pay.
Their Portuguese parent company, Aquinos, collapsed financially this fall, putting more than 45 jobs at risk.
But according to BZ Basel, bankruptcy has now been averted.
A new holding company backed by Belgian firm Matrafoam is taking over the factory, preserving roughly 40 positions and allowing production to restart.
Office jobs in Lucerne remain uncertain, and retailers who dropped the brands will need convincing.
Still, the company’s CEO says the rescue lifts “a huge weight”, and mattresses could return to stores in time for the Christmas rush.
