Teens told don't carry knives

Teenagers in Geneva are being warned not to carry a knife on the street or in schools.

The issue has been brought into focus following the death of an 18 year old in Thônex in May.

Olivier Boillat, the president of the Juvenile court in the canton, says he’s been warning about teens carrying knives for some time.

He told the Tribune de Genève that the excuse used by teenagers is that want a knife for self-defence, but it could have fatal consequences he warns.

Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that more teens are carrying knives now, but it’s not certain.
