In Switzerland, about 15% of adults struggle with basic reading, math, and problem-solving skills - that’s roughly 850,000 people.
The Federal Statistical Office says they tend to earn less, work less, and feel less integrated in society.
Nearly half have no education beyond compulsory schooling, and most are aged between 46 and 65.
The study also links low skills to social background - few have parents with higher education, and unemployment among their families is higher than average.
