Top ski resorts mull wind farms

Some of the top ski resorts in the world could be changed forever under plans being examined by canton Graubünden.

Up to 30 areas are being considered for new wind farms – including resorts such as Flims-Laax and Lenzerheide.

Questions are being asked if it is a good idea to build the turbines in resorts famed for their beauty.

The Arosa Tourist Office says it believes visitors would not be put off by the sight, saying we’re used to power lines, cable cars and masts.

They also point out the resorts already have infrastructure in place in the mountains which will make connecting the windmills to the grid easier.

No final decision has been made. The canton says the projects are still in the evaluation stages.
