We’ve run out of eggs.
Switzerland is not producing enough eggs to satisfy local demand and prices are rising – up more than 50% in some stores.
The supermarket chain Migros says it’s currently stocking eggs that would not normally make the shelves due to their size or shape.
More are having to be imported, but they will be more expensive due to customs fees.
A spokesman for Gallo Suisse - the Swiss egg producers’ association - says the situation across Europe is worrying.
He says thousands of chickens are having to be destroyed due to bird flu measures and famers are turning away from production due to increased costs.
