Another right-wing campaign group has collected enough signatures to force a referendum to stop canton Basel City hosting the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Swiss Federal Democratic Union – which is described as fundamentalist Christian party – says it has submitted over 4,000 names calling for a vote to stop the loan offered by the canton to organisers.
The party is minor and has no significant presence in the canton and had to collect signatures elsewhere to make up the numbers.
They describe the contest as a ‘propaganda event.’
