The Arve River in Geneva is again under observation as water levels rise. The flood alert level has been raised to 4, out of 5.
The current flow is more worrying than the previous alert in November as water levels are now far higher.
There are worries the waters may reach the top of bridges. Authorities also say the levels of the Rhone are also high so areas around Jonction may flood.
Some bridges have already been closed, and more may follow – say the fire department.
The public is being warned to avoid the river banks and stay out of cellars and basements that are at risk of flooding.
