The Swiss People’s Party in Geneva failed to collect enough signatures to force the decision to give NGOs in Geneva CHF 10m to a vote.
The idea the money will give NGOs time to find new sources of cash they’ve lost due to the cut backs triggered by the Trump administration.
The party only managed to get just under 2,500 names – but they needed over 4,000.
It’s hoped the move will safeguard over 3,000 jobs for the time being, although everyone accepts it not a long-term solution.
