Geneva is the latest canton to bring in stricter mask wearing rules.
Everyone will have to wear a mask while indoors – including work spaces.
There are a couple of exceptions – when sitting in a bar or restaurant for example and nightclubs are exempt as it’s seen as too difficult to control them.
Although all partiers will have to have a health pass and fill in a contact tracing form.
The increase in infections in Geneva is being described as exponential.
The cantonal health minister Mauro Poggia says police controls will be stepped up to make sure the rules are being followed, but admits not everywhere can be monitored and is calling on the people to act responsibly.
He says if anyone enters a bar or restaurant and their health pass is not checked – then they should leave and tell the management why.
