Almost 20,000 students at the University of Geneva returned to school – and to attend classes, they had to show either a vaccination certificate or a negative test – which is only valid for three days.
To handle the testing, four centres were set up outside the main buildings.
More than a thousand students needed to be tested. Some because they haven’t completed their vaccination course – and are still waiting for the second dose – others hope to continue testing and so avoid having the vaccine.
That may be viable while the tests remain free – but there’s no promise that will be the case.
But the vast majority are vaccinated. Certificates are regularly checked at random.
There were a few unvaccinated and didn’t want to test – they were sent home to study online
