Last week’s traffic predictions from the TCS proved correct.
By Saturday morning a 14 km long queue had formed at the northern end of the Gotthard Tunnel – meaning it was taking almost 2 hours to get through.
But it’s not over yet, the traffic is expected to stay heavy for the next few days with another crunch time at the end of this week when more schools break up for the holidays in Germany, France and many other, mainly French speaking, cantons.
The TCS is recommending taking the San Bernadino tunnel, or travelling very early or very late.
