The number of infections hit a record yesterday – but vaccines are having a clear effect on hospitalizations and deaths.
The figures from the Federal Health Office show there were 10,466 new infections in 24 hours, the previous record was November last year with 10,128.
But then there were no vaccinations and the infection rate led to 62 deaths and 400 hospital admissions.
Yesterday there were 140 people taken to hospital and 22 died.
Infections show no sign of slowing down at the moment. Over the last 14 days, Switzerland’s infection rate stands at 1,066 per 100,000 people.
That’s higher than France, Germany and Italy, but remains half the rate of Austria.
