Petition for cycle lane on Mont-Blanc Bridge

In Geneva, cycling and pedestrian groups are demanding safer space for bikes on the Mont-Blanc Bridge and Quai du Général Guisan.

They’ve gathered nearly 4,000 signatures, handed to the Grand Council today, calling for one car lane to be turned into a dedicated cycle path.

The plan would complete the route, separating bikes from pedestrians around the busy Flower Clock area.

The cycling organisation Pro Vélo says over a thousand cyclists pass there each rush hour, while car traffic on the bridge has dropped 20% since 1990, cycling has surged by 600%.
