The UN in Geneva has confirmed it did employ an intern who is the son of a Russian weapons designer at the UN Institute of Disarmament Research.
It’s also being reported that 24-year-old Lavrentii Zakharov has worked at several other UN agencies.
Lavrentii’s father, is Alexander Zakharov - he designed the highly effective ‘Lancet’ drone which is being used in Ukraine.
It’s assumed Switzerland must have issued a visa to the intern – although the State Secretariat for Migration is refusing to comment.
To add to the irony of Lavrentii working for a UN disarmament unit, the company his father works for is part of the Kalashnikov group, makers of the famous rifle.
