A federal court in the US city of Seattle has backed a case brought by the Geneva Cantonal Bankruptcy Office against the travel giant Expedia.
Geneva is arguing Expedia used anti-competitive practices to sink a local company, Amoma, in 2019.
The canton is demanding USD 100m in damages.
Web traffic to the Amoma site largely depended on the online comparison site Trivago, owned by Expedia. Geneva argues the site directed traffic, unfairly, to other companies it owns, such as Hotels.com.
The US federal judge says Canton Geneva is making a sufficiently substantiated claim that deserves to go to trial.
No date for that trial has been set.
