A wealthy driver is facing a massive fine for tailgating on the autoroute.
He was fined by a cantonal court, but he appealed. The High Court backed the previous ruling and judged that he was driving dangerously close to the vehicle in front.
Judges considered it a gross violation of traffic laws and so fined him based on his wealth.
Last year he declared a taxable income of over a million francs – so he’s been fined CHF 108,500.
As he lost the appeal, he will also have to pay all costs. But he could still appeal to the Federal Court.
